About Me

Hi, my name is Alberto Ganis. I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Politics Department at UC Santa Cruz. I hold a Master's degree in Media Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Master's degree in Politics from UCSC. My research interests include sub-state nationalism, regional institutions, territorial and identity politics, comparative politics, qualitative methods, migration, and media. My work has been published in Italy and in the United States.

My pedagogy centers on accessibility and active learning. I teach courses in political science, legal studies, and writing/argumentation. I am currently writing my dissertation project titled 'Explaining Cross-Regional Variation in Territorial Governance: The Case of the Italian Regions'.

I am a proud Mustang alumnus. During my time at Cal Poly, I was on the college basketball team while working part-time on campus. It's great to be back!
