About

Annie Aguiñiga Frew received her MPP from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2014.  Her research focused on the assessment of the environmental justice movement in California’s Central Valley and its political impacts on California policymaking institutions.  Ms. Frew’s career spans over a decade working in the California legislature and politics, local community engagement and political advocacy.  She also holds a certificate in Conflict Transformation from Emory University. Her approach to teaching focuses on the development of foundational political science knowledge in tandem with practical, applicable skills to help guide students in their own experience of becoming engaged citizens and strategic advocates who can influence positive social change.

When not teaching, Ms. Frew is a mother to two energetic daughters, a senior rescue dog, seven chickens and two aquatic turtles.  She’s an avid runner, yogi, outdoor adventurer and writer.
