About Raymond Brandt
I grew up in the Bay Area before earning my BA in philosophy at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. After graduating from Cal Poly, I moved to Bloomsbury, where I earned my MA from University College London. I went on to receive my PhD in political science, with an emphasis in political theory, from the University of California, Davis. After graduating, I taught for one year each at UC Davis and the University of North Florida before moving back to San Luis Obispo.
My professional interests are wide-ranging, spanning the history of Western thought, and interdisciplinary, touching on the fields of philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE). I have a particular interest in the proper scope of state intervention and the evolution of liberal political thought, and, even more specifically, in the utilitarian liberal tradition.
Outside of academia, I enjoy watching films and most major sports, as well as casually learning about history and wine. My primary sporting allegiances lie with the San Francisco Giants and the Sacramento Kings.
