POLS 384: Comparative Law

This course explores and compares legal traditions around the world. During the course, we will examine the historical formation, social contexts, and institutions of legal systems from Western and non-Western traditions. We will become comfortable identifying and discussing key principles and topics that apply across traditions. We will learn to perform legal research, reading and evaluating primary and secondary sources to answer the questions we learn to ask. This course is designed to offer both substantive knowledge and practical skills for continued engagement in the field of law.
