Rob Moore: ‘Not the typical Los Gatos Town Councilmember’

The 24-year-old is youngest on council by 30-plus years

At 24 years old, Rob Moore is the only Los Gatos Town Councilmember under 55 years old, and he is possibly the youngest councilmember to have ever been elected. Moore won his seat in November.

“I’m definitely not the typical Los Gatos Town Councilmember,” Moore said, “and I think that’s important.”

While the age gap between him and his fellow councilmembers is more than 30 years, Moore said he can bring a unique perspective and hopes to help represent voices that are traditionally left out of the council’s conversations, like younger people, the homeless population and marginalized communities.

The born-and-raised Los Gatan graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and works as a special projects manager for the San Jose Conservation Corps, a local nonprofit that gives disadvantaged youth good-paying jobs in the environmentalism field.
