About Alison Keleher

I've been fortunate to teach a wide variety of courses while here at Cal Poly over the years, everything from American and California government to the research methodology sequence. This has allowed me to interact with a wide swath of our students - both political science majors as well as those from across our campus's disciplines and colleges.  My research has focused on federal campaign finance, campaign resource allocation decisions, interest group campaign activity, and public opinion on same-sex marriage.  My current research has been on the work that political party groups do, with emphasis on those party clubs who operate outside of the mainstream of their sponsoring party's ideology - groups like the Log Cabin Republicans or the pro-life Democrats.

Here at Cal Poly I have served as our department's Pi Sigma Alpha advisor, and as co-advisor of our Pre-Law club.  I continue to participate in the Campus LGBTQ Ally program, and am a frequent grader of the quarterly Writing Requirement Exam.

In my life away from campus I am an avid dog and horse lover, having competed with both in various disciplines for most of my life.  I am also a devoted science fiction fan, references to which appear frequently (and probably annoyingly) in my lectures.  Those interests, along with an almost unnatural addiction to all things Disney - make my work-life balance very pleasant here on the Central Coast of California.  Although I do sometimes bemoan the distance between San Luis Obispo and Orlando, Florida.
